How I work
If you have questions which aren't answered below, please contact me at brightburntherapy@pm.me or use my contact form.
Integrative| Person-Centred | GestaltThe above words capture the key features of my way of working if it is helpful to know what these include.Integrative means that I use the concepts and techniques from several different approaches in one blended style that best fits how I like to work.Person-centred means I believe that part of my role as a therapist is to provide an environment where you feel accepted as who you are, and that I as a therapist am there to support your exploration as a co-traveller and not an authority figure.Gestalt means in therapy I will try to keep us grounded in the present moment to help build your awareness of how you relate to me, yourself and the world. Focusing on your present experience (mind, body and emotions) can help you to identify patterns and consider how you might make different choices. We might then experiment in a session with what those differences might be.The above only captures the broad strokes of how I work – if you are interested in whether I use a particular approach or I’m familiar with a certain toolkit or a specific issue, please feel free to ask.
I currently charge £60 per session. I believe that counselling should be accessible to everybody who needs it and hope to offer a number of low-cost sessions in future.
I work online and in person. If we work online together I will send you all the details on how to join ahead of your first session. In person, I work at The Practice Rooms in Salisbury city centre. Unfortunately the building is not wheelchair accessible. I hope to find somewhere with better accessibility in future.
As standard, I offer a 50-minute appointment on a weekly basis. Fortnightly sessions or longer sessions may be possible if it best fits your needs.
I work with adults (18+) on an individual basis. I will work with you on a whole range of issues including: anxiety; depression; grief and bereavement; parenting; perinatal issues; LGBTQ+ issues, wider questions on identity; self image; relationship problems.
This will depend on your individual circumstances but might include bringing your baby with you, meeting somewhere that allows you to walk, talk and push a pram, or flexibility in the timing of sessions to minimise issues around baby naps.
